Mistweaver Monk early level 100 talents for Warlords of Draenor

If you’ve been living under a rock lately, you might not have heard that Blizzard announced their new expansion at Blizzcon on the weekend. With that announcement we were also given a taste of whats to come, starting with a new maximum level of 100! With level 100 will come a new talent tier for each class and 3 new talents. Come along with us as we take a look the new “very early” level 100 talents for the Mistweaver Monk.

Remember, this is very early information and it’s possible that none of these talents will ever see the light of day. However, they should give us a pretty good indication of where the develops are heading in regard to the Monk’s level 100 talents. We’ll be focusing on just Mistweaver Monks for this post. Sorry Windwalkers and Brewmasters!

Vital Conviction

  • Brewmaster (Soul Dance)
    • Passive
    • You are now able to shrug off even spells, such that 30% of your normal stagger amount works against magic
  • Mistweaver (Detonate Chi)
    • 1000 Mana, 100 yd range
    • Instant
    • Causes your Healing Spheres to instantly trigger, healing the nearest ally within 6 yds.
  • Windwalker (Hurricane Strike)
    • 15 yd range
    • Instant, 45 sec cooldown
    • Unleash a rapid series of kicks, dashing between nearby targets, dealing 14000 damage over 3 sec. While kicking,
you are immune to all damage and effects.

A spec-specific talent which changes depending on whether you’re Mistweaver or not. For Mistweavers, we gain sort of gain a “new” spell called Detonate Chi. We say ‘sort of’ because although it is new, it effects an already known spell or ability. We have mixed feelings about this talent. For one thing, it will make Healing Spheres more useful as a Healer, but on the other hand… we’ll still have Healing Spheres.

We’re not a fan of Healing Spheres as they rely too much on player interaction. These spheres require players to be very aware of not only their DPS(as an example) and their positioning and their HP, but to keep an eye out for these tiny green spheres that are around if they need healing. Yes, Healing Spheres are handy for topping up but we feel their still lacking.

This talent appears to us as a bandaid solution to justify keeping Healing Spheres.

We believe we’ll use this talent while Fistweaving.

Chi Explosion

  • 1 Chi, 40 yd range
  • Instant
  • Consumes up to 4 Chi to cause the target to explode with Chi energy, causing additional effects based on Chi
  • Brewmaster
    • 1+ Chi: Deals 2500 Nature damage to an enemy.
    • 2+ Chi: You also gain Shuffle for 6 sec.
    • 3+ Chi: Also purifies all of your staggered damage.
    • 4+ Chi: The damage also hits all enemies within 8 yds of the target.
  • Mistweaver
    • 1+ Chi: Heals an ally for 2500.
    • 2+ Chi: This healing also heals all allies within 8 yds of the target.
    • 3+ Chi: Also summons 8 Healing Spheres in an 8 yd radius ring around the target.
    • 4+ Chi: Healed allies are also healed for an additional 800 over 6 sec.
  • Windwalker
    • 1+ Chi: Deals 2500 Nature damage to an enemy
    • 2+ Chi: Damaged enemies also take an additional 1500 Nature damage over 6 sec.
    • 3+ Chi: Also generates a charge of Tigereye Brew.
    • 4+ Chi: The damage also hits all enemies within 8 yds of the target.

We like the look of this talent in this early stage. It provides us with a different type of heal depending on how many Chi we have built up, with each additional Chi providing a stronger heal. It will provide us with the ability to adjust our healing style on the fly, from single target to AoE to Heals over Time… Summoning 8 healing spheres, even though we’re not a huge fan of them on their own, could prove as a winner with this talent. Being able to summon spheres around the melee DPS group could come in handy.

This would of course work great with the tier 3 talent Chi Brew which provides 2 Chi to you instantly. We probably wouldn’t use this while Fistweaving, but is an option.

The healing numbers do seem low, but it’s not wise to look at the number comparitively to our current healing numbers due to the item squish that’s incoming with the expansion.

Serene Mists

  • Brewmaster & Windwalker (Chi Serenity)
    • Instant, 1.5 min cooldown
    • You enter a state of mental and physical serenity for 10 sec. While in this state all Chi consumptions are
      instantly refilled.
  • Mistweaver (Soothing Tendrils)
    • Passive
    • Your Soothing Mist now also chains to up to 2 additional allies within 15 yds of the last ally, and has a 50%
      higher chance to generate Chi.

The last of the new talents for level 100 Mistweaver Monks is the talent Serene Mists. A passive talent for Mistweavers, this causes our Soothing Mist to chain to two extra targets within 15 yards and boosts our chance for to generate Chi.

We believe this will be the best for non-Fistweaving Mistweavers, as Soothing Mist becomes one of our main Chi generators. Along with the extra healing to additional targets of course, we could see this talent effecting a number of circumstances, such as generating more Chi, causing more use of Chi, therefore causing more mana return through Mana tea.

It will be interesting to see if these talents do make it to live along with the expansion. We’re not totally excited, but it things are headed in the right direction. Remember, we may not see any of these talents upon release and these are purely to see where the developers are taking us Mistweaver Monks.

What do you think of these possible level 100 talents? Are you excited for any in particular? What do you think about the Healing Spheres? Let us know in the comments below!
